MCAF unveils its 2017 poster by Boum
After several teasers, MCAF is proud to present Boum’s poster for the 6th edition of the festival.
A friend of MCAF since 2012, Boum (Samantha Leriche-Gionet) is an accomplished artist from Montreal.
A dynamic thirty-something, involved mom and proud geek, Boum appeals, thanks to her aura, from Montreal to Vancouver.
At age seven, while some girls might aspire to become princesses or singers, she finds a new career goal during a family trip to Disney World, where she visits an animation studio; her newfound passion is cartoons.
She studies at the cegep du Vieux Montreal and at Concordia University; her schooling is thorough and bilingual. Traditional animation, 2D animation and stop-motion make most of her classes.
In 2011, her participation to Hourly Comic Day sends her on a new path. After a successful day of comics, Boum starts working on weekly strips that become her slice-of-life webcomic Boumeries.
To gather readers, Boum knows rigor and assiduity are important factors. Humourous and sensitive, Boum’s stories please families and geeks alike.
In 2012, Front Froid publishes her graphic novel La petite révolution, which English version will see print this fall. Her Boumeries are updated three days a week and collected in books once a year. Boumeries volume 7 will be available just in time for MCAF.
