About Sole Otero

Sole Otero (1985, Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a comic strip author, children's illustrator and textile designer. She graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in Textile Design in 2010. Since 2006, her work as a children's illustrator has led her to publish internationally. She also produces several comic strips, which she publishes online. Her first book La pelusa de los días was published in Spain in 2015. She has been a member of the Latin American collective Historietas Reales, as well as the more international collective Chicks on comics. She has taught digital and paper illustration, as well as comics, embroidery and knitting. She currently runs a short seminar on color through the Domestika website. In 2019, she won the Salamandra-Graphic prize for her graphic novel project Naftalina, which was published in Spain in 2020 by Penguin Random House - Salamandra Graphic. In 2023, this same comic won the Prix Public France TV at the Angoulême International Comics Festival. It also won the Prix Baule d'or at the Viñetas Festival in Poitiers, and the Prix Lycéen at the Colomiers Festival. She usually works on comic strip projects, children's books and illustrated books.
