Helge Reumann began his studies at the Geneva School of Decorative Arts in 1985. After obtaining his diploma in 1990, he created several studios, and in 1996, he caught the attention of curious observers: alongside Xavier Robel, he founded Elvis Studio and gained recognition through multiple productions. Camions et Poursuite (published in 1998 and 2000) particularly set him apart from a wave of young artists: beyond technical skills and a taste for graphic experimentation, Reumann creates a universe that is constantly evolving, further developed and refined over time. This universe depicts a corrosive world, where hope is regularly shattered by political or religious fanaticism and various obsessions—a chaos that would be utterly depressing if it were not so fascinating. Reumann’s perspective on our world remains persistently unsettling. In 1998, he received the Federal Prize for Applied Arts in Bern, and in 1999, he was awarded the art grant from the Swiss Federal Office of Culture in Bern. In 2002, he won the Töpffer Prize for Bagarre, followed by Sexy Guns in 2014 and SUV in 2019. He has lived in Montreal and has designed album covers for The Notwist, strom|morts and Choolers Division. One of the duo’s most notable artistic experiences was Elvis Road, a gigantic leporello book (published by PipiFax in Zurich and later by Buenaventura Press for North America). Elvis Road is a hypnotic fresco, a marvelous book-object, created by Xavier Robel and Helge Reumann in a year-long relay process. What started as a collective wrist-warming exercise turned into an essential piece of contemporary drawing. This narrative cadavre exquis demonstrates a remarkable intensity of creativity. In 2002, they launched the Elvis Stereo label, dedicated to releasing 45rpm vinyl records featuring local musicians—a sort of vernacular ethnomusicology of the Geneva region. Many posters and programs were also created for music groups. The collective was dissolved in 2014. Helge Reumann now focuses on painting and installations with resin multiples. He is working on a sound-based project in collaboration with the Swiss experimental music group strom|morts [archive], titled LotW (Land of the Warehouses). His work in comics continues with new book projects and regular contributions to fanzines and the cult comic magazine Kramers Ergot, edited by Sammy Harkham. "
