Yoann-Karl Whissell is a filmmaker and co-founder of RKSS - a writer-director trifecta with filmmakers Anouk Whissell and François Simard. Their first feature film - the acclaimed TURBO KID - premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, launching a highly successful festival run and winning 24 awards worldwide (including SXSW's Audience Midnighters Award, BiFan's Best Directors, Sitges' Carnet Jove for Best Feature and Best Original Score, and a Saturn Award for Best International Film). With Turbo Kid, the trio thrives on passion and has managed to touch the hearts of all generations far beyond the genre and cult fans. In 2018, Yoann-Karl had the honor of returning to SUNDANCE for the world premiere of the trio's second feature film SUMMER OF '84. Acclaimed by audiences and major media outlets such as Hollywood Reporter, The Village Voice and Variety, the film confirmed the trio's sensitivity, maturity and talent. Released in theaters, on Blu-ray and on all major digital platforms in August 2018, the film then concluded a long and successful festival run with a final stop at SITGES. The trio has 2 new films coming out soon and many projects in development.
