About Ariane Cloutier

Ariane often smiles without noticing. She plays with images like a kid in a playground — shapes and concepts allow her to tell offbeat stories with humour and visual poetry. During her studies in Graphic Design at UQAM (2018), she very naturally focussed on illustration. Then, a mentorship offered by the publishing house Front Froid encouraged her to steer towards comics (2020). In 2023, her first zines (Montréal-Gaspé and It'll be alright) were finalists at the 24th Bédélys Awards in two categories; respectively, in the Francophone Independant category and the Anglophone Independent category. This spring, you'll find her illustrations in two new illustrated books: L’étrange histoire du chevalier Gaspard (written by Roxane Brouillard, Les 400 coups) and Marie Réparatrice (Édition illustrée, written by Louis-Philippe Hébert, La Grenouillère).
