Manuele Fior was born in Cesena, Italy, in 1975. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Venice in 2000, and moved to Berlin in the 90s. In 2005 he moved to Oslo, where he has a dual career as an architect and comic book illustrator-author. In 2004 he published Les gens du dimanche and Icarus in 2006 with Atrabile, the latter receiving the Micheluzzi Prize. He moved to Paris in 2008 until 2020. During this period he produced several works rewarded like Mademoiselle Else (2009, Delcourt), Prize of the city of Geneva, 5000 kilometers per second (2010, Atrabile) prize of the Golden Fauve in Angoulême as well as the Micheluzzi Prize, The other people (2011, Atrabile), Micheluzzi Prize and the Gran Guinigi de Lucca Prize, L'Entrevue (2013, Futuropolis) will receive the Micheluzzi Prize and the Bédélys Monde Prize. In 2018 he received the Inkpot Prize for his entire work. 2020 sees his return to Italy where he settles in Venice - a favorite city that he draws for many months in his album Celestia, released in 2020 (Atrabile). Manuele Fior is one of the most famous and appreciated contemporary comic book authors and illustrators of his generation. Newspapers, magazines, film producers and publishing houses regularly commission him for illustrations and covers on all continents. His talent and growing reputation have led him to collaborate with Le Monde, the Inrock, the New Yorker, Vanity Fair, La Republica, the BBC and the Criterion Collection, in the field of cinema.
