Laïla Breger grew up in the world of music and dance since they were a child. A trained classical violinist and jazz singer, they left Québec for Spain in 2014 to study flamenco dance at the prestigious Fundación Cristina Heeren under the tutelage of Milagros Mengibar, Javier Baron, Luisa Palicio and El Choro. They continued training in the following years with Ursula Lopez, Carmen Ledesma, Alicia Marquez and La Moneta, among others. Back in Montréal, Laïla pursues their flamenco practice with Myriam Allard, director of the company, La Otra Orilla, while completing a Bachelor's degree in Art Education at Concordia University. Additionally, Laïla begins teaching flamenco dance classes at both the Centre des Musiciens du Monde and Studio La Lola. They also assist teenagers during jazz ensemble workshops at Domaine Forget in Charlevoix, and is workshop leader during the dance and choir programs at McGill’s Conservatory Camp. Since 2020, Laïla has been contributing to sharing their passion working with Jeunesses Musicales Canada as a workshop facilitator and artist for the Children's Jams. Laïla is passionate about sharing their love of play, sound, rhythm and dance and forging valuable connections between their roles as an artist and educator.
