Cédric Loth began his career by becoming the youngest editorial cartoonist in Canada, by joining the newspaper Le Devoir in 1974. He then worked for Le Soleil, Le Droit and then the weekly La Semaine Internationale. At the beginning of the 80s, he immersed himself in comics. It's a shock. In 1985, his album Atlantic City, written by Pierre Montour, was the first best-seller in Quebec comics. Reprinted in France by Les Humanoïdes associés, this book had a dazzling success which led Cédric to create numerous pages for Métal Hurlant, the most prestigious comics magazine in the world. This will allow him to meet the greatest comic book authors. Building on this success, in 1983 Cédric joined the ranks of major advertising agencies as artistic director, designer and creator of advertising campaigns, making his mark in the field. In 2001, he left this world to devote himself to 3D animation, film-directing, and a freelance clientele. Considering it essential to keep abreast of the arts and maintain his creativity, Cédric pursues various artistic activities, including illustration, scriptwriting, animation and bronze sculpture. On the aesthetic level, Cédric Loth's sculptures draw their evocative power and their plastic rigour from the heritage of the great masters of the Florentine School, Rodin, Degas and Alexander Calder (with whom he worked as an intern). His drawings and engravings, through their remarkable mastery and their humorous and ironic character, are in line with the great illustrators, including Cecil Aldin, Ronald Searl, Honoré Daumier, Robert Crumb, Ralph Steadman, Albrecht Dürer and Gustave Doré. Recipient of numerous awards and recognitions over the years, in 2019 he returned to comics with Spray, published by Mosquito. Since then, he has been preparing his next project, Le petit ramoneur de Québec, which opens his adventures at Moelle graphik with the album Misère noire.
