Staark, whose real name is Yvan Soudy, was born in Saint-Benoit in 1987, and grew up in Bras-Panon. Already at a young age, he was immersed in manga culture and therefore decided to become an animated-film director. After a traditional school curriculum, the young Reunion Islander decided to go to an animation school and joined the Indian Ocean Image Institute (ILOI). He mainly studied video games there. With his friends, he founded Studio Pixel Butchers, which stood out on the international scene with the game Little Geek Adventure, which earned them a participation in the Independent Game Festival in San Francisco. The studio thus becomes the first French student studio to be admitted there. At the same time, Staark was spotted by Shovel, an author (at Delcourt at that time). He benefited from the Young Talent grant from the Shovel workshop and learned the codes of comics there. The young Panonnais then jumped into the world of manga and published Jabulamy on Délitoon. He then turned to the number 1 webmanga platform: Mangadraft. There he published Bastille 974 and for the first time, Redskin. The manga enjoyed an unexpected little success for an amateur work, and was quickly spotted by Norigami editions. In 2018, Redskin became 100% Reunionese with the publishing by Des Bulles dans l’Océan. 4 volumes have been published to date, and a 5th is in the making.
