Georges Armand Enyegue Pondy was born in Yaoundé in 1977; he's an artist, cartoonist, comic book author and fan of comics, cartoons and video games. According to him, luck would have it that these are the three main areas in which he works. He didn't have the chance to study for long, because after the death of his father, he couldn't afford to continue his studies. He preferred to devote himself to drawing, his true passion. A member of the A3 collective and self-taught, the eldest of 8 siblings, he fought for what he loved and got his start in 9th art by publishing two issues of the Les Cop’s series in 2007. Pondy also appeared in the 2007-2008 edition of the Africa comics catalog (Ed. Lai-momo) and in the second issue of the Cameroonian comics magazine, Waka waka, with a short story scripted by Ngalle Edimo. Pondy also co-directed two short films, La witch and La tcham in 2009, with Kelly. In 2009, he and Ntep Adams Kelly began drawing the successful Vie des jeunes series. Sold at 100 FCFA, Vie des jeunes sold up to 150,000 copies. From 2010 to 2012, with the A3 collective, Georges Pondy took part in the adventure of Bitchakala magazine, with the series 3H Chrono and Pulsions. Between 2010 and 2011, he inked several pages in the Les nyés series, with Ntep Kelly (pencils) and Nouther (colour) for Situations magazine. Finally, in 2011, with Kelly Ntep and Yannick Deubou Sikoué, he produced issue 4 of Aventures de Fatou, a 38-page comic-book brochure on behalf of a local human rights NGO, NDH. In 2012, he published the Ifrikiya album CATY: Ça va chauffer, a full-length story about his police heroine Jacky Wabo, set in the city of Yaoundé. In 2014, Georges Pondy became artistic director at Kiro'o Games, where he took part in the Aurion adventure (Cameroon's first video game). Also in 2012, the author released an album entitled OUP’S, published by Akoma Mba. Still using a realistic graphic style, Georges Pondy immerses us in the daily life of teenagers in the Cameroonian context. Since 2016, Georges has been the artistic director at AJEM, from where he participated in the comic project Mon Rêve (My Dream) in 2017. A prolific author with a drawing marked by pronounced anatomy, the author has been described as the “Sensei” of comics in Cameroon, thanks to his expertise and almost unrivalled talent. In 2021, the author didn't sleep and produced volume 2 of CATY: Cellule Antiterroriste de Yaoundé, published by Waanda stoudio – a graphic design, animation, publishing and distribution studio in Yaoundé. The author distributes all his comics on the Waanda comics distribution platform, the stronghold of African comics.
