Celebrating Swiss Comics at the 14th MCAF

Montreal, April 3, 2025 — The Montreal Comic Arts Festival (MCAF) is proud to announce that Swiss comics will be celebrated at its 14th edition, taking place on Saint-Denis Street from May 23 to 25, 2025.

Thanks to a partnership with Comics Network Switzerland, the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, Presence Switzerland, and the Swiss Consulate General in Montreal, the Festival will showcase the richness and uniqueness of the three major scenes in Swiss comics: French-speaking, German-speaking, and Italian-speaking.

“I am delighted that the Montreal Comic Arts Festival is highlighting an important delegation of Swiss comic artists and professionals, who bring bold and innovative comics to the stage. This unique encounter fosters enriching exchanges and builds lasting connections between artists and enthusiasts on both sides of the Atlantic.”
Anne-Béatrice Bullinger, Swiss Consul General in Montreal

An Immersion into Swiss Comics

For this occasion, MCAF will welcome eight creators who represent the diversity and creativity of Swiss comics:

You can find them in the festival’s programming, as well as at the dedicated Swiss booth in the activity zone for signings. Throughout the festival, the public can also explore Swiss Comics on Display, a large-scale outdoor exhibition offering a fresh and original portrait of Swiss comics.
→ The full program will be announced on April 24.

Building Bridges

In addition to the artists, professionals and representatives from Swiss comic organizations will participate in a professional networking day with their Quebec counterparts. Attendees will include representatives from publishers such as Atrabile, Édition Moderne, Hélice Hélas, Helvetiq, Strapazin magazine, La bûche collective as well as the Fumetto and BDFIL festivals.

This day, along with the festival, will be an opportunity to discuss the comics and publishing industry, including artistic practices, market trends, and multilingualism.

→ The full program for the 14th edition of the Montreal Comic Arts Festival will be announced on April 24.
