The Montreal Comic Arts Festival Takes Over Saint-Denis Street on May 27, 28 and 29, 2022

Montreal, February 16, 2022 – The Montreal Comic Arts Festival (MCAF) and the Société de développement commercial (SDC) Rue Saint-Denis are pleased to announce the arrival of the Montreal Comic Arts Festival on Saint-Denis Street on May 27, 28 and 29, 2022.

Since 2011, the Montreal Comic Arts Festival has been welcoming an ever-growing number of comic creators and fans. A true meeting place for the industry’s movers and shakers and the public, the Montreal Comic Arts Festival is a free, bilingual and public event that celebrates the “9th Art,” with an ongoing mandate to promote the comic arts and those who create them.

MCAF 2022 to Take Place on Saint-Denis Street

For this 11th annual edition, the Montreal Comic Arts Festival will be held on the famed Saint-Denis Street! MCAF, previously held in the heart of La Fontaine Park, will have a new home this year, and the organizers of the Festival are proud to bring a new dimension to the event.

“It’s an incredible opportunity to install the Montreal Comic Festival in the form of a street fair on a major public thoroughfare that is closed to traffic—a first for this section of Saint Denis! This change of location ensures greater visibility and better attendance while maintaining the friendly atmosphere so appreciated by our audience and the comic arts community.“
says Johanne Desrochers, Executive Director of the Montreal Comic Arts Festival.

For the occasion, the commercial artery will be closed to traffic in order to accommodate a street fair with more than 100 exhibitors and more than 200 artists under the tents. The public will also have the pleasure of participating in various activities around the theme of comics.

A Unique Collaboration

Part of the Saint-Denis Street Recovery Plan, the arrival of this first edition on a commercial street also marks the first partnership between the Montreal Comic Arts Festival and the SDC Rue Saint-Denis.
